Why does my instant boiling tap deliver water at 98°C instead of 100°C?Updated 2 months ago
K&W Instant boiling taps are designed to give you near-boiling water (98°C).
Why did we choose to set the temp at 98°C for our instant taps?
1. It’s the perfect temperature for most kitchen tasks
98°C is hot enough to:
Make tea and coffee
Sterilise bottles and utensils
Cook pasta and vegetables
Loosen lids and clean surfaces
You won’t notice any practical difference compared to 100°C.
2. 98°C water is kept less pressurised inside a sealed tank
Inside the under-sink tank, water is kept under slight pressure. At 100 degrees, there's steam to contend with - and that causes greater risk.
98°C gives you hot water without excessive steam, either in the tank or at the tap.
3. It saves energy without compromising performance
Heating and holding water at a constant 100°C consumes more power with no real benefit. 98°C is smarter, safer, and more efficient — very K&W.
